Former collegiate athlete and current MLB pitcher, Sawyer Gipson-Long, has joined the Fury Performance staff to help athletes improve and develop their baseball skills. Selected as a 6th Round pick in the MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, Sawyer is now available during his off-season for private instruction and team training.
I was a state swimmer in high school, it was my first sport and I was competitive with it from middle school through high school. Baseball is my current professional sport. I was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 6th round in 2019. In my first full professional season I had one of the top strikeout to walk ratios in the Twins organization, striking out 134 batters in 97 innings while only walking 27. In college I was the Friday night starter my junior year and was a nationally ranked pitcher in my strikeout to walk ratio that year. As a high school pitcher I received Cherokee County Pitcher of the Year my senior year in 2016.
“I do not want to hold the information I have obtained for myself. I think sharing my information is the most important way to continue the learning process. I wish I had a professional mentor close to my age when I was growing up so I want to be that mentor.”
Professionally trained in baseball since 2019
“I enjoy fishing and hunting, yoga, and reading. I love the continual learning process that is life so I try to maximize every opportunity I have!”
“The continual learning process. No matter what age my client are, I learn something from everyone. I am a curious individual and I am always seeking new information for myself and others.”
