Performance Coach

Izzy Palermo

I’m passionate about being a coach because I want to give back to the lacrosse community that has given me so much love and opportunity throughout my life. I enjoy being out on the field still, doing what I love most: playing lacrosse. The sport has taught me so many valuable lessons in life that I hope I can pass down to my athletes. I would not be where I am today without my teammates, coaches, family, and the sport of lacrosse.

Why are you passionate about coaching?

I’m passionate about being a coach because I want to give back to the lacrosse community that has given me so much love and opportunity throughout my life. I enjoy being out on the field still, doing what I love most: playing lacrosse. The sport has taught me so many valuable lessons in life that I hope I can pass down to my athletes. I would not be where I am today without my teammates, coaches, family, and the sport of lacrosse.

Which sports have you played competitively?

I’ve played lacrosse for 10 years. I played at Kell high school and went and played at the Division 1 level at Kennesaw State University. I also was a starter my entire college career as a midfielder. In college, I was named to the ASUN All Freshman team in 2017, was on the leadership committee throughout my 4 years of college and in 2019, was in the top 10 free position shooting percentage of the ASUN conference. In high school, I was named All-American (2016), All-Acaedmic American (2015 and 2016), All state team (2015 and 2016) and all county team (2014). Awarded team MVP (2016) and team MVP midfield (2015). Also, awarded GA’s positive athlete for women’s lacrosse in 2015.

Personal Hobbies?

“I love spending time with my family and friends. I am a huge animal lover so playing with my dog is at the top of my list of what I enjoy doing. Something else I love doing is spreading awareness and knowledge about Type 1 diabetes! As a type 1 diabetic athlete, I think it’s very important to educate other diabetics and athletes that no matter what comes your way, as long as you have determination and passion, you can do anything you set your mind to.”

Coaching Motivation?

“Being able to see my athletes succeed and find the love for their sport is what motivates me as a coach. I want them to not just grow as athletes, but grow as individuals. “
